Waste separation plant

Waste separation plant

In 2017, a new waste separation plant was commissioned for large-scale separation of municipal waste. Our separation plant allows us to recover seven types of raw material streams for reuse. Every day, our partner municipalities deliver 900 tonnes of waste for separation. In the coming years, we will take concrete steps to recover even more raw materials.

Bio energy plant

Bio energy plant

AEB has built a sustainable biomass power plant in the Western Port of Amsterdam that runs on biomass. The power plant will enable AEB to provide double the sustainable heat capacity to the city's district heating network. This biomass power plant accounts for approximately 67,000 tonnes of avoided CO2 per year. The AEB Bio-energy plant converts up to 110,000 tonnes of low quality prunings and waste wood per year into sustainable heating for Amsterdam.

Steam delivery

Steam delivery

At the beginning of 2019, research was started on developing steam supply from the AEB plant to neighbouring company Argent Energy. It is possible to supply steam from our existing installations to surrounding companies. This steam is a more sustainable and cheaper alternative for the surrounding process industry than using fossil natural gas.

CO2 capture and transport

CO2 capture and transport

AEB wants to capture CO2 from the flue gases from the incineration plant and supply this as pure CO2 to greenhouse horticulture companies in the Westland region. They now generate this themselves for use as a nutrient for plant growth. AEB wants to capture and supply 450,000 tonnes of CO2 each year. A study is being carried out into the technical and economical feasibility.
